Septic Sand Mound
Sand mounds are usually elevated as the name implies. Some sand mounds are flat or level with your lawn. They may be confused for a conventional septic system.
Sand mound piping is laid out on a bed of gravel in the shape of an H. The legs of the H are connected by a crossbar pipe which feeds the effluent from the dosing or liquid tank. The H shaped piping has an elbow, a vertical riser, and cap at both ends of each leg.
These four clean out caps may be buried or overgrown by your lawn. Some stick up above the lawn several inches or more. If your clean out caps are visible you know the location of your sand mound.
